My one goal is to give more than I take, so I hope these help many. I will continue to post them as long as time permits.
I am sure you will pick it up with time; and as a teacher you know asking questions can speed up the process, so don't hesitate. Also, don't make it more complicated than it needs to be. All this scan does for me is point me to things that are moving different than the rest of the the names in the universe. From there, the chart tells the real story which can be long, short, stalk or pass. Don't just look at gainers as longs and losers as shorts here, often the opposite will present itself.

Re: June 13, 2014 RS Movers

Hi Mr. Lackey, even after studying, I'm unsure I could grasp this. However, the purpose of my note is not to talk about what I am able to learn, it's about thanking guys like you who are so truly helpful to others. I've been a teacher for 25 years. Some of the finest teachers I know (sort of know} can be found on stocktwits. You are one of those guys. Thank you for your unselfishness and your sincere interest in helping individual investors have success in the markets. It can take quite a toll on your body,
especially your feet and your back, so don't push too hard too fast. I
wrote an article here on adjusting to a standing desk if you are
interested: http://notsitting.com/stand...

Trevor

Re: Stop Swinging at the Last Pitch!

So true!! This week I had this happen to me. I lost my discipline and entered a trade too high. I wound up having to sell it where I normally would of bought it. Then it popped. Because I got impatient and tried to hit the first bad pitch, I would up having to watch the home run pitch go right down the middle. Then to make matters worse I revenge traded that trade, going into another entry, which then tanked. Horrible sequence of events just because I took a swing at that first bad pitch. Hopefully I can eliminate these mistakes which compound.

Re: January 5, 2014 Strength In Numbers

It makes it hard to read - keep good flow - with the text wrapping around the images.

Re: Stop Swinging at the Last Pitch!

Thanks for reading Jeff! Results for tuning out noise the last 7 days.
In a nutshell, green for the week. So that's good. I'm definitely more focused and productive. Did get distracted though by leaving ON the home tweet deck feed. So this upcoming week I'm turning that off too, during the day. That leaves only Tommy, Derald, Greg and Frank at ZorTrades,(apologies to all the stocktwits folks). I'll report back again next week.

Re: The Problem with Sentiment Swamis

Awesome, I will look forward to it Robert.

Re: The Problem with Sentiment Swamis

I'm doing a test in the next 7 days: I am going to filter out all sentiment, news and fundamentals (including BBs, Twitter, Stocktwits, etc) (sorry Howard) out of my vision. I'll only look at yours and Derald's and Greg's posts for "scan-for-set-up" input. Period. There's too much noise out there (for me). I'll report back next week with a short assessment. This is gonna be fun!

Re: The Problem with Sentiment Swamis

Fully understand, but can't totally agree. I think you factor it in subconsciously more than you see. You talk on stream about not chasing etc. I use it more for broad measures and in context with the stage of the market rally. I haven't figured out how to use it on individual level with my style. thanks for reading.

Re: The Problem with Sentiment Swamis

everytime i invested with or against sentiment it led to hellish stress. way better ways to start toinvest and you almost never need to factor in sentiment. that said, its a great biz to be in :)

Re: 20130314 RS Movers

Rich,
It depends on your timeframe and skill level. If you are an index or sector player it is hard to enter here without very tight stops. If you are a stock picker, there still seem to be set-ups everyday that are just now breaking out. Finding them is the hard part.... Which is why I do these lists every night. Looking for the opportunities

Re: Relative Strength Scans Explained

the RS movers is not about specific trades, it is about finding securities that are making unusual moves as compared to the universe I am using. If they move 25 points either way over the last 5 period, then I want to look at that chart and see where we are. Important to note you can find good long and short ideas on BOTH lists. Example is if you are in a bull market/trend and we pullback a bit I will look for high RS values on the RS Losers lists (say dropped from 99 to 70). With these I will be looking for support or O/S plays. I also find many "to fade" plays on the RS Gainers list. That said, new names showing up on either list also alerts me to a potential new trend since my RS is only 3mo it can sometimes spot them early

Re: 20130314 RS Movers

Just about everything in the economy is looking up right now, don't see an economic reason for a correction.
I got out to early and am now thinking about getting back in. After looking at a lot of SPX market tops, it seems that there is always at least one additional peak on decreasing breadth. Does this guide your investing policy?
